PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Assemble, install, and repair pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water, and draining systems according to specifications and plumbing codes.

TYPICAL DUTIES:

• Exercise behavior that ensures personal safety and the safety of coworkers. Promote a positive image of the company.
• Compile material lists for the project.
• Study building plans and working drawings to determine the work aids required and the sequence of installations.
• Inspect structure to ascertain obstructions to be avoided to prevent weakening of structure resulting from pipe installation.
• Locate and mark the position of pipe and pipe connections and passage holes for pipes in walls and floors using a ruler, spirit level, and plumb bob.
• Cut openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings using hand tools and power tools.
• Cut and thread pipe using pipe cutters, cutting torch, and pipe-threading machine.
• Assemble and install valves, pipe fittings, and pipes composed of metals such as iron, steel, brass, and lead and nonmetals such as PVC, using hand tools and power tools.
• Join pipes by use of screws, bolts, fitting, solder, plastic solvent, and caulks joints.
• Fill pipe system with water or air and read pressure gauges to determine whether the system is leaking.
• May weld holding fixtures to steel structural members.
• Maintain an awareness of material availability at job site and shop.

KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

• 3-5 Years of Commercial Plumbing Foremen Experience
• Med-Gas Certification is a plus
• Blueprint Interpretation
• Boiler Installation
• Gas Lines
• Installing Compressed Air Lines, Drain Lines, Piping, & Water Lines
• Overseeing Subcontractors & Inspectors
• Sanitary & Storm Lines
• Timesheets & Expense Reports
• High School Diploma or Equivalent

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to work easily and skillfully with hands; lift and carry objects weighing up to 150 pounds. See well (either naturally or with a corrective lens).  Climb and maintain balance on high ladders and scaffolds and stank, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
