Pipefitter Top Helper/Mechanical Pipefitter
JOB DESCRIPTION
Assist pipe fitter to assemble and install piping for Fire Sprinkler, Hydronic Hot and Cold Water Piping, Steam Piping, Refrigerant Piping, Condensate Piping, Ductile Iron Mechanical and Slip Joint Piping.
Full time position.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
1. Cut or drill holes in walls to permit passage of pipes using pneumatic and/or electric drills.
2. Select specified types and size of pipe. Mount pipe hangers and brackets on walls and ceiling to hole pipe.
3. Assist pipe fitter to install valves, couplings, and other mechanically fastened or welded / brazed fittings.
4. May disassemble and remove damage or existing piping.
5. Threading and grooving pipe.
6. Load, transport, unload and furnish experienced craft worker with materials, tools, equipment and supplies.
7. Clean work area and restock supplies and materials as necessary.
8. May perform minor maintenance or cleaning activities of journeyman’s tools and equipment.
9. May assist in installation of high-pressure piping.
10. May assist in installation of Pumps, HVAC Units, Fans, Air Compressors, Roof Top Units, Specialty Valves.
11. Exercise behavior that insures personal safety and the safety of coworkers.
12. Perform other routine duties as directed by experienced craft person.
13. Assist other tradesmen employed by Bolton. Work may include but not limited to plumbing, HVAC, Duct Systems Installation, Electrical, Fire Sprinkler, General construction, Warehouse support, Building and Grounds maintenance, Cleanup and Clerical duties as required by supervisor.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
1. Must pass a criminal background check and have a clean driving record.
2. Fire Sprinkler experience a plus
3. Need to have your own hand tools. Basic knowledge of simple measuring devices.
4. 2 year experience preferred but would consider someone mechanically inclined
5. Must have high school diploma or GED.
KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
Must be able to work easily and skillfully with hands; lift and carry objects weighing up to 150 pounds. See well (either naturally or with corrective lens). Climb and maintain balance on high ladders and scaffolds and stand, stoop, kneel or crouch.
PAY SCALE:
$15.00 – $24.00 per hour depending on experience.
